You need a SIM C (motorbike) or SIM A (car), or an International Driving Permit. Helmets are provided. Surabaya gets very hot — carry water and ride in the cooler morning and evening. Motorbikes cannot use the toll roads or the Suramadu bridge’s express lanes.
