We started in Labuan Bajo in 2016 with a handful of motorbikes and a WhatsApp number. Today we cover 7 locations across Indonesia with cars, boats, drones, GoPros, and gear — all handled by a team that actually lives here.
How We Operate
Bajo Rental was founded in Labuan Bajo in 2016 as part of the Indahnesia Holding Group — a collection of travel and hospitality businesses built by locals who know Indonesia from the inside.
The original problem we were solving was simple: visitors to Labuan Bajo could not find reliable transport or gear rentals. What existed was informal, inconsistent, and often required the guest to negotiate directly with someone who may or may not show up.
We built Bajo Rental to fix that. One point of contact, fixed prices, confirmed bookings, and accountability that sits with us — not with a random third party.
We now operate across 7 locations including Labuan Bajo, and are expanding to Bali, Sumba, and Ende. The model stays the same everywhere: you book with us, we handle everything, the partner just drives the car or operates the boat.
Bajo Rental is Brand 4 of the Indahnesia Holding Group. Sister brands include Indahnesia (flagship tours), Leticia Liveaboard (premium phinisi), and OpenTrip Komodo (budget trips). Shared infrastructure, shared values.
Nine years of operation in one of Indonesia's most challenging environments: remote islands, variable weather, limited infrastructure. We have seen every problem and built systems to handle it.

How We Work
Our team has lived and worked in Labuan Bajo since 2016. We know which roads flood in wet season, which boat routes work in strong swell, and which partners actually show up on time.
No hidden fuel charges, no last-minute add-ons, no negotiating on the day. The price you see is the price you pay. We publish our rates publicly because we stand behind them.
Every inquiry gets a human reply within 30 minutes during operating hours. If we cannot fulfil your request, we will say so clearly — not leave you waiting for an answer that never comes.
Bajo Rental owns the customer relationship end to end. Partners only fulfil the service. You will never be handed off to a third party or told to "sort it out with the driver." That is our job.
Our Business Model
Most rental platforms in Indonesia are directories. They list vehicles or boats from various owners, take a commission, and leave the customer to deal directly with whoever picks up the phone. If something goes wrong, the platform has no responsibility.
Bajo Rental operates differently. We contract with local partners, set the service standards, fix the pricing, and take full responsibility for the booking from first message to drop-off. You will never be given a partner's personal number and told to sort out the details yourself.
This matters most when things go wrong — a vehicle breaks down, weather changes a boat route, a driver is late. In those situations, you contact us and we fix it. That is the deal.
