We are the Bajo Rental Team, locals in Labuan Bajo since 2019. This guide covers everything you actually need: the fleet, real prices, how renting works, and honest riding tips for town and for the winding roads of Flores.
Why rent a motorbike in Labuan Bajo
Labuan Bajo is the gateway to Komodo National Park, on the western tip of Flores in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The town itself is small and easy to ride. A motorbike is the cheapest and most flexible way to get around.
With a scooter you can chase sunset viewpoints, hop between cafes, and reach Pede Beach without waiting on a driver. You set your own pace and your own schedule. Town roads are fine for any rider. Out toward the countryside, Flores roads get winding and hilly, so plan those rides with a bit more care.
For the water side of your trip, a boat is the right tool, not a bike. See our Komodo boat charter guide for that part of the journey.

How renting works
Renting from us is simple and built around your trip.
Book via WhatsApp. Message us with your dates, your hotel, and the bike you want. We confirm availability and reserve it for you.
We deliver to your hotel. Delivery and pickup within the Labuan Bajo area is Rp 30,000. You do not need to find an office or carry the bike back yourself.
What is included. Every rental comes with a helmet and a rain jacket at no extra cost. Flores weather can turn quickly, so the rain jacket earns its keep.
What you need. A valid ID or passport is all we ask to book. Bring it when we hand over the bike.
That is the whole process. Pick a bike, send your details, ride.
Riding tips and safety in Labuan Bajo and Flores
A few honest notes from people who ride these roads every day.
Always wear your helmet. We include one with every rental. Wear it in town and on every ride, no exceptions.
Plan for fuel. You can fuel up at SPBU stations in and around town. Out in the villages, you will mostly buy bensin eceran, petrol sold by the bottle at small roadside stalls. Fill up before long countryside rides because stalls thin out fast.
Respect the terrain. Town roads are easy. Roads heading into rural Flores are winding, hilly, and sometimes rough. Ride slower than you think you need to, and take corners wide and cautious.
Licenses and permits. Indonesian law requires every rider to hold a valid motorcycle license. For a foreign visitor that means an International Driving Permit (IDP), the official PBB-standard translation of your home license, carried together with that home license. An Indonesian SIM also works. A home license on its own is not legally enough, and police do run checks in tourist areas. The safe and responsible move is to ride only if you are a confident, licensed rider with the right paperwork.
Ride defensively. Traffic in Labuan Bajo is mellow compared to big Indonesian cities, but watch for trucks, pedestrians, and the occasional dog. Use your mirrors and signal early.
Where a scooter can take you
This is the fun part. A scooter turns Labuan Bajo from a port town into a region you can explore.
Viewpoints. Ride up to Bukit Cinta and Bukit Sylvia for wide views over the bay and islands, best at golden hour.
Beaches. Pede Beach sits a short ride from the town center and is an easy spot for an afternoon swim or a sunset.
Cafes. Labuan Bajo has a growing cafe scene, and a bike lets you hop between spots for coffee and food without thinking about parking or pickups.
Day rides. Point the scooter toward the countryside for a taste of rural Flores, green hills, small villages, and roads with almost no traffic. Keep these rides within your comfort and fuel range.
